A Fake Nintendo Twitter Account Celebrated Pride Month Yesterday by posting an image of Mario and Luigi kissing. It was obviously wrong because an international brand would be never celebrate LGBTQ people by posting an incest photo, but some people, like Sebastian Gorka, former deputy aide to President Trump, fell for the fake hook-line-and-sinker tweet. Oh damn it.
The account, which was called “Nintendo of America” yesterday, posted the image with the message, “Happy #PrideMonth! Our staff is filled with people of all sexualities, so we love to support that.
The wording is so horrible that it’s obvious a straight person wrote it. (The account owner claims he’s 16.) The account is also filled with offensive posts, including a somewhat transphobic one. pretend that Mario is a woman.
Connecting incest to LGBTQ identity is queerphobic, but let’s be clear: gay men have made images of the Super Mario Brothers kissing in the past, so it’s apparently a bit of a fanfic taboo.

Surely, many other Twitter users, both pro and anti-gay, also disapproved of the tweet. All attention returned to the clean account with its schtick.

In a public message (below), the Twitter account wrote:
“Unfortunately, Twitter sent me a personal message and told me that I should either delete my account or change my name. However, this goes against the very reason for the existence of this account. If the name wasn’t “Nintendo of America”, people wouldn’t believe it’s real. At this point, there’s no reason for this Twitter account to exist.
The profile owner then wrote that he originally created the account to cheat friends, but would soon change the nickname, name, profile picture and content since he could no longer use it to cheat. people.
