How to delete your Discord account

If you’re no longer an active Discord user and don’t expect to return to the service anytime soon, it’s a good idea to delete your Discord account. The service makes it easy for you, and we’ll show you how.

What to know before deleting a Discord account

Deleting your old online accounts is a good idea to maintain privacy and security. Before deleting your Discord account, be aware that all data in your account will be permanently erased when the account is gone. You will not be able to restore this data in the future.

Additionally, if you own a server on the platform, you will need to delete or transfer ownership of that server to someone before you can delete your account. Discord will prevent you from deleting your account if you don’t.

Delete your Discord account on desktop or web

To delete your Discord account from your desktop, use the Discord app or Discord for the web. The steps are the same for both clients.

To get started, launch Discord on your computer. In the bottom left corner of the app, next to your username, click “User Settings” (a gear icon).

To select "User settings" basically.

In the settings, in the left sidebar, select “My account”.

To choose "My account" from the left sidebar.

Scroll down the “My Account” page. There, click on “Delete account”.

To select "Delete account" at the bottom of the page.

If you own a server, Discord will ask you to delete it or transfer it to a user. Make one so you can continue.

"You own servers" quick.

You will now see a “Delete Account” prompt. Here, click on the “Password” field and type in your current Discord password. If you’ve enabled two-factor authentication, you’ll also need to enter your code.

Once done, click on the “Delete Account” button.

Type the password in "Password" and click "Delete account."

Discord will log you out of your account and your account will now be deleted. You are ready.

Delete your Discord account on mobile

To delete your Discord account from your phone, first launch the Discord app on your phone.

In the bottom bar of the app, tap your profile icon.

On the “User Settings” page, tap “My Account”.

To choose "My account."

Scroll down the “My Account” page. There, tap on “Delete account”.

Faucet "Delete account" basically.

You will see a “Delete Account” prompt. Tap the “Password” field and enter your current account password. Then press “Delete”.

If you have secured your account by enabling two-factor authentication, Discord will ask you to enter this code.

Enter the password in "Password" and select "To delete."

And your Discord account is now deleted. Enjoy!


After deleting the account, you may want to uninstall the Discord app on your Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, and iPad devices. It’s very easy to do.
