What’s more, the Switch surpassed the 3DS’ lifetime sales of 24.6 million in the region, earning the honor in just five years while it took the 3DS an entire decade. The Switch overtook the 3DS globally a while back (it’s at over 103 million while the 3DS family topped out at around 76 million), but it still has some way to go to surpass the original DS on both fronts (32.86 million nationally, 154 million worldwide). It’ll take some effort to do it, but the Switch was a major hit early on, so anything is possible.
That’s it for this bold and brave sales report. It’s a thankless task, but important… for someone, I suppose.
