Mystery amiibo appears on Nintendo’s product security page

Ever since I started reporting on amiibo in 2014, one place I’ve always gone for juicy details was the Nintendo Consumer Product Safety (CPSIA) page. For those of you who aren’t aware, the CPSIA is a law passed in 2008 that requires companies to certify the safety of toys to make sure they don’t contain anything you don’t want your kids on. put their hands up. While Nintendo generally updates these pages after a product has been announced, there are rare occasions when amiibo are actually leaked by these security certificates. Believe it or not, Gold and Silver Mario were actually leaked this way before an official announcement.

While we don’t have anything as amazing to report today, we do see Nintendo just uploaded a new amiibo certificate for an unknown character simply named “amiibo”. How mysterious! What we To know It’s that Nintendo made these amiibo in August and September. If history serves us well, we should see this mysterious new amiibo release around two to three months from the date of manufacture.

Now, if I was a bettor, I’d put my money on Sephiroth from the Super Smash Bros line. which would be released alongside Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII in early December. To add fuel to the fire, Sephiroth was just displayed alongside other amiibo at Zurich Pop-Con in Switzerland just a few days ago.

Here’s hoping Nintendo doesn’t keep us waiting too long for an official announcement. Stay tuned!
