Nintendo just wrapped up its investor meeting for October 2015 and we can now reveal the first details on the Nintendo Account and the My Nintendo points system – two big changes coming soon for users.
There had been some confusion on social media over the past few hours as to whether the Nintendo Account was the same as My Nintendo or vice versa.
We can confirm that Nintendo Account will be the new service for Nintendo User IDs, while My Nintendo is a different system fully which will award points to users playing Nintendo games on console and smartphone.
This is a very exciting prospect as Nintendo has stated that My Nintendo Points can be redeemed digitally for DLC, as well as other Nintendo products and coupons.
Getting rewarded for playing games with items that would typically cost money? This will be the stuff of dreams for many Wii U and Nintendo NX owners if our point system assumptions are correct.
The diagram above, courtesy of Nintendo Everything, should help summarize the new features Nintendo will be introducing to users soon.
With Nintendo now venturing into mobile games with Miitomo slated for release in March 2016 with My Nintendo, the idea of ââhaving an account that covers both the smartphone and the console seems logical.
Nintendo also said that the Nintendo Account will use cloud technology to save data and characters. You’ll also be able to use Facebook, Google+, and Twitter with a Nintendo Account, which will make it even more convenient for users when the transition happens.
