Nintendo Sales Panic: NPD Group US October 2022 Results – News

A busy end of the month is all over the sales charts.

In a month filled with new releases, the Switch’s software has been strong in the US according to the NPD Group’s October sales survey.

All data is based on dollar sales, unless otherwise stated for the period October 2-29. third parties report digital sales for the eShop.

The Switch was bound to be down in October compared to last year due to the period containing the launch of the Switch OLED. No figures were provided, but the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series were first and second in terms of revenue and units sold.

For software, the three big October debuts for Switch all made the top 10. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (October 20) finished 6th in the combined software ranking, with Persona 5 Royal (21st) rose from 291st place in September. chart to the 7th with its new cross-platform version. Bayonetta 3 (October 28) debuted 9th combined on two days of physical sales; for comparison, Bayonetta 2’s October 2014 did not see the game’s chart as a Wii U exclusive (although only the top 10 was released). Other Nintendo software in the top 20 included Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 11th, Splatoon 3 Month Two at 12th, Nintendo Switch Sports at 18th, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 20th. Third-party Switch software included FIFA 23 ranking 3rd, NBA 2k23 8th, Minecraft 13th, Dragon Ball: The Breakers 16th, and the Switch version of Nier Automata bump it up from 217th to 19th.
