Nintendo Switch games have the fastest sales in Japan

Three days after Splatoon 3 was discontinued, Nintendo released the games’ launch figures in Japan, revealing that the title’s domestic sales stand at over 3.45 million units. This number includes both physical and digital sales, and its highest level of national sales is in three days for any Nintendo Switch software.

While the announcement was made that it was the best-selling Switch game based on three-day sales (beating the previous record holder, Animal Crossing: New Horizons) worldwide, the largest time for all games sold in Japan. According to Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, this game is the best-selling game in Japan.

Pokemon Black & White sold 2.63 million copies at launch, but sold out after two days. For the first three days after launch, there appears to be no data. So while the sales data isn’t directly comparable, it seems clear that Splatoon 3s is a massive launch in Japan. That’s no surprise considering Splatoon 2 sold 13.3 million copies for the Nintendo Switch in March 2022, making it one of the best-selling games on the Switch.

Splatoon 3 sales have been announced.

In the first three days after launch, Splatoon 3 sold $345 million worth of units. Splatoon 2 sold 638 units in the first few days, and the second week the first of two of its 742 units. Watch this launch trailer, so you can help out if you want to contribute to its massive sales.
