Tricky Tucker is back, telling viewers how the big tech boogeyman is silencing the right not to voice approved “narratives.” Except in this case, he’s praising Elon Musk for its acquisition of Twitter despite the fact that his return to Twitter after a one-month ban was not due to the new Twitter manageris lying allowed him to connect back in.
Mediaite originally pointed out that his account that Musk essentially saved him is false, and instead the Fox News personality is back on Twitter simply because she nodded to Twitter’s demands to remove an offensive tweet.
Here is the back story. Rgood-Wing parody site Babylon Bee has been suspended from Twitter after breaking its rules against “hateful behavior. » the account was suspended in March due to a gender error (which is against the rules of Twitter) Assistant Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine, a transgender woman, calling him “Man of the Year” for 2022. Levine had been named one of USA Today’s “Women of the Year” in March.
Carlson originally endorsed this tweet along with another on his show. regular hatemonger Charly Church who also promoted transphobia by tweeting Levine had spent “54 years as a man.” Carlson’s tweet read “But wait. Both of these tweets are true,” along with screenshots of both posts. Carlson’s account was suspended on March 23 with Kirk, and they were told they should delete the tweets and spend 12 hours in read-only mode before their accounts return. Carlson’s tweet has since been deleted, but it wasn’t until April 25 that Carlson announced his return to the platform.
Twitter has yet to respond to a request for comment to confirm when Carlson’s account was restored and why, but the timing is indicative of how Carlson is trying to spin the narrative around the so-called “censorship” of Twitter.
Although Carlson spat on how people are “arbitrarily banned due to the whims of the politicians in charge,” Carlson’s show chyrons read “UNSHACKLED BY ELON MUSK: FREE SPEECH RESTORED; @TUCKERCARLSON BACK ON TWITTER. This, of course, ignores the fact that Musk has yet to take direct control of the platform.
It’s not like Tucker hasn’t done it already had a hate-hate relationship with the truthbut this sudden wave of support for Musk is in hopes that the Tesla founder’s vague interpretation of free speech will help them get back on the platform without fear of hitting those pesky limits on what they can and cannot say.
The conservatives have struggled to find alternatives to social media over the past few years, they have consistently violated Twitter’s terms of service. Despite the long experience of former President Donald Trump love affair with the platformhe maintained that he won’t be back on twitter even if Musk “forgives” his account.
As for whether Twitter’s rules will change regarding hate speech like contempt for malicious gender, it remains to be seen how much control Musk will have over the company. Although Twitter’s new owner has said in the past that he “supports [sic] trans” he has expressed himself strongly in the past against people who publicly share their pronouns. Of course, these may just be the instinctive opinions of a man well known for insult people onTwitterespecially anyone who disagrees with him or points out faults in him or his businesses.
Where will that leave the likes of Carlson as they try to praise the tech billionaire while simultaneously spread false informationtime will tell us.
