With the release of Monitor 2players of the original game will want bring their unlocked account, progress and skins so they can pick up where they left off.
This page acts as a complete breakdown of how to merge your Overwatch account into Overwatch 2, as well as how to transfer your acquired skins.
How to merge your Overwatch account
Overwatch 2 has implemented a cross-progression system where you can continue your progress regardless of where you play. As such, you will need to merge your account through Battle.net.
You may only link one console account per platform to your Battle.net account. You can therefore have a linked PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo profile, but not more than one of each.
To link your account, follow these steps:
- Log in to Overwatch from your console account.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to scan a QR code on your mobile phone.
- Enter the code displayed on your console to sign in or create your Blizzard Battle.net account.
- Once complete, you will be prompted to confirm your account the next time you log into the game to merge your accounts.
You will only have one chance to merge the correct account, so double check your information!
Transferring Overwatch Skins
All skins currently owned by the original Overwatch must be transferred using the merge method listed above, which means that regardless of what platform you purchased a particular skin on, if you pair that platform account at Battle.net for Overwatch 2, these cosmetics will be available. when the merge is complete the next time you log in.
With Overwatch 2 just launching, Blizzard has had issues since launch day until today. This led to some players finding that some (or all) of the cosmetics they previously owned were missing when launching in-game, regardless of the account merge.
Although there is currently no fix, Blizzard noted in its Known Issues Blog post that “some cosmetics, items, and currencies that players own are not appearing in their collections.” With that in mind, it’s likely that a fix will be available soon, and rest assured that, as the cosmetics are specifically tied to your account, they will appear in your collection once the issue is resolved.
