Monitor 2 was one of the most anticipated games of the year thanks to the overwhelming popularity of the first title in 2016. Now that Monitor 2The beta of is finally here, however, some players are a bit confused as to where they can and cannot access the game.

The main reason for the confusion is likely due to Microsoft’s plan to acquire Activision Blizzard, which has been at the forefront of many gaming conversations lately thanks to Sony’s outspoken refusal. When Microsoft bought Zenimax in 2021, the company made it clear that titles coming out of Zenimax’s studios such as Bethesda Game Studio and Arkane Studios would be Xbox exclusives, so questions regarding the platform options of Activision Blizzard games like Monitor 2 and Diablo 4 have been on the minds of many gaming enthusiasts.

Where to play Monitor 2

Despite Microsoft’s public plans to acquire Activision Blizzard, the deal still hasn’t been done because many checks and balances are needed when major corporate mergers take place. Because of this, Monitor 2 is available on platforms outside of the Xbox ecosystem. Even though the deal was done at this point, Microsoft said it might be a bit more lenient about which Activision Blizzard games will be exclusive, implying that the studios’ biggest releases will likely remain cross-platform.

Monitor 2 is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. For the sequel, Monitor 2 has gone free-to-play, which means anyone can access it as long as they’re willing to accept its free stuff like a premium battle pass and other microtransactions littering the experience.

When searching for Monitor 2 on the digital storefront of your choice, however, the first search result may be for the Overwatch 2: Waypoint Pack which costs around $40. Don’t be fooled, the Waypoint Pack is simply a collection of game items that do not affect your ability to access the free version of the game. Waypoint Packyou’ll get access to the Premium Battle Pass for the game’s first season, seven legendary skins, five epic skins, 2,000 Surveillance coins (the premium in-game currency) and a player icon. If you are not looking to buy the Waypoint Packyou will need to retrieve the Origins version of the game. Because Blizzard is pushing the Waypoint Pack so hard, find the free, Origins editing is a bit boring, but if you search you can find it. Hopefully, as time passes, finding the free version of the game becomes easier as some of the issues that come with game launches are resolved.
