Big game news season is upon us, and even before Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, Sega is kicking things off with an announcement this Friday, June 3 for…something. A new project of sorts will be announced, with executive director Hiroyuki Miyazaki and producer Yosuke Okunari. The only other teaser is a cake topper Mega Drive/Genesis controller.

Why are these details important? Well, it was the two who announced the Mega Drive/Genesis Mini together in 2019, with Okunari working exclusively on retro reissues and the Genesis Mini being Miyazaki’s last major product. Between that and the Thinking emoji, Sega certainly seems to imply that another Mini console (or something?) is on the way.
Okunari has already stated publicly he would like to see a Dreamcast Mini, so that seems like the most likely option, although the odds of a Saturn Mini aren’t completely infeasible (if perhaps unlikely). Either way, the stream will be on Friday at 4:00 a.m. PST and 7:00 a.m. EST in Japanese, if you want to watch it despite those conditions (or hey, maybe you live in Europe). All will be revealed then.
