Silt is an eerie underwater puzzle adventure coming to PC and consoles next month – GameSpew

Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water, Silt is ready to give you nightmares.

Sure, The silt the creators, Spiral Circus Games, are selling it as a puzzle adventure, but going by the trailer, there are plenty of disturbing underwater encounters to be had. Much like Limbo, it sports a monochromatic aesthetic, presenting you as a diver who dives into the depths in search of “long-forgotten mysteries”.

Sure, maybe the reason they’re long forgotten is that everyone who went looking for them was devoured by aquatic beasts, but why did that stop you? Your diver has the ability to control sea creatures; the trailer, for example, shows them using an electric eel to solve a puzzle. So maybe, under your leadership, they won’t be lunch.

And, it must be admitted, giant monsters or not, Silt looks absolutely stunning, even when a colossal leviathan attempts to impale you on its massive, massive teeth. Monsters aside, you should have some monster-free exploration time, though we can’t overlook the bad guys lurking just around the corner.

And then there is the soundtrack. Even though the trailer features a brief snippet of The silt soundtrack, it still managed to give us chills, so much so that we hope it will be available for purchase separately.

Whether it does or not, you won’t have long to wait to get your hands on it. Silt. It’s slated for release on June 1, landing on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. You can check out the trailer above or wishlist on Steam here.
